Past Exhibitions
Since returning to Russia in March 2015 following her sabbatical visit to Australia, Galina has continued to work on landscapes and portraits using a variety of media and techniques, including encaustic wax which she practised in Australia. This upcoming exhibition of paintings and photographs highlights her experience in Austrralia.
The exhibition will be held in the Exhibition Hall of the Museum of Artistic Culture of the Novgorod Land, Desyatinny Monastery of the Tithes, in the historic north-western Russian city of Velikhy Novgorod. The official opening of the exhibition will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday 25 May 2017.

Galina Kizhapkina returned to Russia in March 2015 following her sabbatical visit to Australia. She is currently working on new paintings and exhibitions about which further information will be provided in due course. Two articles about Galina's work and sabbatical art projects in Australia were published in the Russian-Australian weekly newspaper, Unification (Единение) in September 2010 and October 2013.

Following two successful exhibitions of Galina Kizhapklina's works held over five weeks at the ACT Civic Library and ACT Legislative Assembly in January-February 2011, a short exhibition in Canberra at the Australian National University School of Arts from 14-18 June 2011 featured works of both Galina Kizhapkina and Galina Kym, a Russian artist living in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The exhibition included a selection of refreshing and inspiring works in media including graphics, oils, watercolour and encaustic wax.

Galina Kizhapkina's first two exhibitions in Canberra, the national capital of Australia, were held over 5 weeks and in conjunction with the National Multicultural Festival. The exhibitions featured Russian and Australian landscapes painted "alla prima" in watercolour, complemented by floral, still life and portait oil paintings.
A small exhibition of Galina's watercolour paintings was displayed in the mezannine level exhibition space of the ACT Civic Library, at Civic Square in Canberra's CBD until Friday 4 February 2011.
From Monday 7 February until Friday 18 February, a two week presentation was staged in the ACT Legislative Assembly Gallery of many of Galina's best recent oil and watercolour portraits, floral, still life and landscapes shown on the "Exhibition Only" pages of this website . The Legislative Assembly Gallery was made available through the sponsorship of Mr Shane Rattenbury MLA and Ms Caroline Le Couteur MLA, both elected Members for the electorate of Molonglo.
On Saturday 12 February, H.E. Mr Vladimir Morozov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Australia, officially opened Galina Kizhapkina's exhibition in the ACT Legislative Assembly exhibition. Ambassador Morozov was introduced by
Caroline Le Couteur MLA, who commented on the pleasure that the exhibition had given to Members and staff of the ACT Legislative Assembly.
Galina Kizhapkina's first exhibition in Australia was held at the St Kilda Town Hall, Melbourne, Australia on Sunday 10 October 2010. Fifty nine works, comprising 52 watercolour landscape and foral paintings were complemented by oil portaits and still life. Over 100 visitors expressed their delight with the exhibition and asked to see more of Galina's work in the near future.
Galina was interviewed at the St Kilda Town Hall by Ms Sima Tsyskin, Director, Russian program, SBS Radio. The interview was broadcast on SBS Radio later that week.
An article about the work of Galina and her late husband, Nikolai Lomtugin, was published in the Australian Russian language weekly newspaper Единение (Unification) on 27 September 2010.
Galina's St Kilda Town Hall Exhibition was organised with local support and publicity from the Russian Ethnic Representative Council of Victoria.
